Each Commissioner is appointed for term of three years by the Board of Supervisors. The Commission elects its own officers. It is assisted by a water and sewer engineer (consultant) and a secretary appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
The Commission reviews all proposed development plans relative to water and sewer issues to
assure compliance with the ordinances and resolutions established by the Board of Supervisors.
The Commission renders decisions by vote of the majority on all issues. These decisions
are presented to the Board of Supervisors in the form of approved and retained minutes.
The Commission, from time to time, will interact with residents concerning proposed development,
and/or changes to existing facilities. This may be by public meeting or written
communication The Commission reviews existing and proposed Sewer and Water Township Ordinances,
Resolutions, Regulations, and Rules, on a periodic basis, and makes recommendations to the
Supervisors.
The Commission regularly reviews the operation of existing public water and sewer systems, the
Township's on-lot management program, quality assurance program, and other related operations,
to keep abreast of current problems, an make recommendations that will improve operations and
service to the residents.
The Commission exists to help provide the residents of Buckingham Township a fully integrated,
resident oriented water and sewer program, consistent with Federal, State and County Regulatory
Requirements, and the plans of the Board of Supervisors.
The commission members come from varied backgrounds, including engineering, geology, soil science, architecture, academia and business. This diversity provides input from multiple perspectives during project discussion and allows unique review and resolution to water and sewer issues within the Township. Board members have a tremendous care and respect for the water and soil resources of Buckingham Township and endeavor to protect those resources through conscientious application of applicable regulations, technological knowledge and sound judgment. We encourage public participation and invite all to our meetings on the third Tuesday of each month, and semi-annual tours of existing and proposed facilities.
