Buckingham Township Awarded $900,000 for Midway Volunteer Fire Company’s New Fire Engine
State Senator Steve Santarsiero and State Representative Tim Brennan announce $900,000 in state funding to Buckingham Township for the Midway Volunteer Fire Company to purchase a new rescue engine serving Buckingham Township and surrounding communities.
Midway’s current fire engines are 19 and 29 years old, exceeding their accepted service lives and requiring significant repairs and downtime. The funding will allow the company to replace both aging engines with one modern, fully compliant rescue engine featuring a six-person cab, 1,000-gallon water tank, 2,000-gallon-per-minute pump, foam system, multiple attack lines, and space for rescue equipment.
The new apparatus will improve reliability, firefighter safety, and emergency response throughout Buckingham Township. It will also strengthen regional response efforts, as local fire companies routinely provide mutual aid across municipal boundaries during fires, vehicle accidents, and other emergencies.
The grant was awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Local Share Account Statewide Program, which distributes gaming revenue through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support projects that improve residents’ quality of life.
