As autumn settles in, the Buckingham Township Public Works Department is reminding all residents to do their part in keeping storm drains, creeks, and basins free of yard debris. Leaves are the leading cause of storm drain blockages and can contribute to flooding and property damage. In accordance with Township Ordinance #1957-15, the deposit of yard waste, such as leaves, grass clippings, and other debris—into public roadways is strictly prohibited. Residents are asked to ensure that neither they nor their lawn care contractors blow any yard waste into the street. All yard waste must be placed in paper bags and set out at the curb for pickup. Additionally, for those whose properties back up to parks or open space, please refrain from piling leaves in wooded areas or near creeks. These areas are not exempt from the ordinance, and all yard waste should still be properly bagged and placed at the curb.
